Why is it that Mombasa has so many outages and complete blackouts not to mention fluctuations galore?
Since, I left Msa end of November to travel up-country, it's been a relief of many kinds.
One of these is the fantastic roads and other infrastructure that you encounter as soon as you leave Coast Province.
The power is also not so unpredictable as in Mombasa which is a real relief. I am now in Eldoret as I write this and since I arrived here about 2 weeks ago, there have been only 2 incidences of fluctuations and only one outage of a few minutes.
Now, one wonders why this is so. After all it is the same Chief Eng. who used to be in Msa till a few months ago, who is in charge. He was transferred to Eldoret.
So, why is it that these people cannot work as efficiently and thoroughly as they do up-country? This state of affairs brings to mind suspicious thoughts...
Why is Coast Province so behind in EVERYTHING?! Who is to blame? NONE of our service providers do a thorough job, nor are they accountable or seem to have any professonalism or ethics, either. What could be the reason?
RE the power outages almost on a daily basis and for even a whole day are nearly unheard of up-country. Why is this? Of course, this does not mean that KP(LC), start their nonsense behaviour out here, too. In fact, they should be giving a service on a par with the rest of the country, instead. Why are they not?
At present Mombasa is not only unbearably HOT but is full of visitors from all over including our so-called political 'tribe'. I just hope and pray that they too are suffering these outages in full like the rest of the Wananchi.
Can our power company please give us an explanation of this unequal and unjust behaviour?

Dear Mr. Robert,
Again - Power Outage on 2 phases from Saturday 15th DEC 2012
Location: Kilima Road (Behind the Nyali - Links Rd Substation)
We Thank You Greatly for your below mentioned email.
However, Sadly we once more have to come back to you within 2 weeks to complain for 2 phases not present since 15th Dec, 2012.
Below is the details with reference number of our calls to customer care:
1. 15th DEC 2012 - 5.50PM - 589462
2. 16th DEC 2012 - 10.20PM - 1746899
3. 17th DEC 2012 - Still 2 Phases Not Present.
a) We do notice that, after each complain - all the power goes and when it returns back only 1 phase returns.
b) It looks like only our side (Area) and the apartments on Umoja Estate Road (Which i think i called Rainbow Estate) loose power. The opposite side from us going towards link roads always have power.
Finally, I strongly ask that during each outage your company 'Kenya Power' to 'clarify' why there is an outage with a fact or reason. E.g., Transformer is being changed / Cables are being upgraded / Regular Power Rationing etc. The people need to know or have a valid reason as to why their area does not have power. We would be most obliged if your esteemed department could kindly look into this once more and to find a Permanent Solution!.
Best Regards,
Bhagat.
