How to Get Rid of Itchy Skin Rashes or Allergies
by: Junji Takano

Do you have itchy skin rashes that suddenly appear all over your hands, feet, and face? What could have caused it? Is it stress? Lack of sleep? Diet? Age? Or dry skin?
The cause is very often unclear, but believe it or not, things that you never thought may cause rashes can actually be the problem.
In this article, we'll let you know the latest information on how and why skin rashes occur and what you can do about it.
Eczema / Skin Rash
## The Mystery of Skin Rash
Skin rash usually appears from just a few minutes to few hours upon contact with a certain allergen. Sometimes it occurs after 1 to 2 weeks of contact or exposure to the allergen. In some cases, the rash will develop much more quickly after later contacts.
In addition, there are medications that can also cause rashes. If you are using eye drops that contain substances that you are allergic to, it can cause itching, swelling, or rashes around your eyes. The same thing can be said with topical creams, which can cause skin rashes on hands, feet, and face.
Cosmetic products can cause allergy or skin rash
There are even times that some people cannot exactly determine the cause of their skin rash or allergy, since it occurred suddenly. Moreover, they have been using the same medications or cosmetic products for many years without any allergic reactions, yet they got a reaction later on. What could be the reason behind this?

## There Are Two Types of Rashes -- "Sudden" and "Delayed"
Actually, there are two types of rashes. One type of skin rash develops suddenly, and the other type develops after a period of time. We'll call the first type "sudden rash", and the second type as "delayed rash" or delayed hypersensitivity reaction.
-- Sudden Rash
Sudden rash are rashes that mostly occur after just a few minutes of exposure to an allergen with the skin. The most common type of substances that cause this include yam, bleach, and diaper rash.
-- Delayed Rash (Delayed Hypersensitivity)
Delayed rashes occur after one day of contact to a certain allergenic substance or irritants. There are also cases wherein the itchiness only occurs after two weeks of exposure. Topical creams that include substances like ginkgo can trigger these types of rashes.
The thing to remember here is that you should discontinue using a suspecting allergen, whether it is a cosmetic product, or topical cream for at least two weeks since symptoms may only occur after that time frame and not just within a day or few days.

## How Can I Suddenly Become Allergic to Something I've Never Been Allergic to Before?
It is worth noting that there is also a type of delayed rash in which you are not allergic to a certain substance for a long time, but can suddenly cause you rashes one day. This phenomenon is known as sensitization.
The underlying key here is the dendritic cells located on your skin tissues.
Dendritic Cells in Skin
When a foreign matter enters your body through the surface of the skin, the dendritic cells determine whether it is harmful or not.
The dendritic cells do not do anything as long as the foreign matter is harmless. But if the material is suspected to be harmful, they migrate to the lymph nodes where the foreign material will be added to the "wanted list". We call this the "memory cells". Once this foreign object comes in, the body will enter into "battle mode" state. We call this the "adaptive immune response".
However, in rare cases, there are times when foreign matters coming from the skin are regarded as harmful by the dendritic cells even though they aren't. This result to wrong immune response and the body will mount the wrong offense. That is why, even if you are not allergic to a certain substance, it can be considered an enemy by the body later on.

## How to Identify the Cause of Your Rashes
There are many kinds of substances that cause skin rashes or allergy. Sometimes, it's hard to determine the cause of rashes especially if it occurs after one week to two weeks of exposure to an unknown allergen. Even worse, if you suddenly become allergic to something you've never been allergic before, then finding the specific allergen will prove very difficult.
When symptoms develop, we suggest that you immediately begin by gradually eliminating the most common allergens one at a time.
-- 13 Most Common Things that Cause Allergy or Skin Rashes
1. Cosmetics
2. Medicines
3. Topical Creams
4. Eye drops
5. Lip balm
6. Shampoo
7. Body soap
8. Hair dye
9. Laundry detergent
10. Rubber (gloves or rubber bands)
11. Metal (earrings, belts, etc.)
12. Paint
13. Plants

## 3 Ways to Determine the Unknown Allergen
-- 1. Stop using the suspected substance for 1-2 weeks
Stop using or avoid contact or exposure to the suspected substance for one week, or even two weeks if possible. If symptoms persist, proceed to the next suspected substance. If symptoms disappear, then you have found the unknown allergen.
-- 2. Open Test (Skin Sensitivity Test)
To determine if you are allergic to a certain substance, you can place the suspected allergen directly on your skin. From this, you'll find out if you have a reaction or not. You can do this by putting the suspicious substance twice a day to your skin like on the back side of your elbow.
Open Test (Skin Sensitivity Test)
Make sure you follow the actual usage of the suspected allergen when putting it on your skin. For example, to know if you are allergic to a shampoo, put it in your skin with water.
Important: If severe symptoms occur, we recommend that you seek medical attention.
-- 3. Patch Test
Medical institutions or dermatologists can also determine if you are allergic to a specific substance by performing a much more complex medical procedure. This method is known as " patch test ".
Patch test is usually done by placing diluted chemicals in a patch test kit and putting in on a small area of your back. The chemicals included in the patch are the usual offenders that cause skin rashes, which are present in metals, rubber, cosmetics, additives, etc.

## Allergic Reaction with Unknown Cause?
For allergy with an unknown origin, the PYRO-ENERGEN electrostatic therapy machine can prove to be very effective. It is unknown if your allergy is not caused by any other common things like insect bites, food, drugs, plants, or other products.
If you or your doctor still cannot determine the cause of your skin rashes or allergy despite doing the procedures in this article, you may be suffering from an unknown allergy. We recommend you to use the PYRO-ENERGEN therapy machine especially if you are having severe allergic reactions. After all, this "unknown allergy" may be essentially caused by the outside negative energy, which the machine can repel.

Constant fluctuations & outages

'Evening!

For some reason best known to KPLC, we had 2 fluctuations and an outage again, today.

Reason given by one employee of Kenya Power for them was they were cutting trees!

This town urgently needs trees and the welcome shade they give among many other advantages of having greenery around us.

One of the excuses that this environmental unfriendly power company has for chopping off trees is that they get in the way of power lines. One thing they should urgently do is NOT have power lines hanging down and have them high up, enough to be out of the trees' way.

It is disgusting to chop off trees in the name of supplying power.

In fact, these low hanging power lines are in some places so low that they are a danger to the public. There are countless such examples all over the country not just this town.

Why does Kenya Power do such a shoddy job of securing power lines?

Gender Equality in the Holy Qur'an – In the Beginning Man and Woman Were Equal
Epigraph:

"But whoso does good works, whether male or female, and is a believer, such shall enter Heaven, and shall not be wronged even as much as the little hollow in the back of a date-stone." (Al Qur'an 4:125)
By Dr. Lutf ur Rehman. Nashville, USA
With the advent of modern education and inclusion of women in the workforce over the last two centuries, the patriarchal nature of societies is also in a state of flux. Over the course of human history, men have dominated the role of leadership in these societies. Even today a great majority of human population lives in this arrangement. It worked well when physical strength was an asset. Most of the work was done manually and fighting in the army required physical strength. Men had a great advantage over women in this area. Therefore the societies were aligned to suit their interests. Women were assigned to a subservient role and were mostly confined to home and domestic work. Over the course of human history this role of women – rearing children and caring for the home and her husband – became their normal function in the society. They were not included in the affairs of men and were considered inferior in many ways. Men literally owned their women like livestock and property. Women had no rights – their fate was decided by the word and wishes of their men. They were not given education, had no say in their marriage, could not own property, and required permission of their men folk to do anything in their lives. Any woman who would not follow such norms in the society was punished and sometimes even killed by her own father, brother or husband, and it was considered honorable for men to do so. Political and religious systems were often used to perpetuate such oppression of women.
Christian Arab writer, Norma Khouri noted, honor killings originate from the belief that a woman's chastity is the property of her family, a cultural norm that comes "from our ancient tribal days, from the Hammurabi and Assyrian tribes of 1200 B.C."[i]  Matthew A. Goldstein, J.D. (Arizona), has also noted that honor killings were encouraged in ancient Rome, where male family members who did not take actions against the female adulterers in their family were "actively persecuted."[ii] The Roman law of 'pater familias' gave complete control to the men of the family for both their children and wives. Under these laws, the lives of children and wives were at the sole discretion of the men in their family.
In the sixth century Arabia, men were ashamed if a daughter was born in their household. Many who considered themselves courageous and brave would bury their daughters after their birth to get rid of the shame. The practice was considered honorable. Qays bin Asim, ancient leader of Banu Tamim is credited by some historians as the first to kill children on the basis of honor. It is recorded that he murdered all of his daughters to prevent them from ever causing him any kind of dishonor. This is the time which was called the time of ignorance or "Jahiliyyah" by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him). He brought a message which was forward looking, open minded and based upon principals of justice for all – men and women. Holy Qur'an is the Word of God and a lasting source of guidance for all Muslims for all times.
Let us examine if Qur'an accepts or prescribes an inferior role for women?

Outage on Madaraka Day...?!

'Afternoon!

On the dot of 12.15 pm, those of us who reside in this outage ridden area of Mombasa (Nyali & North Coast), were treated to another one.

Is it possible that we are 'celebrating' 50 YEARS (half a century!), of so-called Independence? I don't think that this has penetrated the collective brains of Kenya Power (KPLC). They are impervious to anything.

Calling the various engineers' numbers proved an exercise in futility as usual - maybe they don't answer due to being ashamed of themselves.... and have no reply.

The emergency number not only is NOT toll-free but, it keeps you hanging on while one of their 'agents' becomes free. So, this is  like adding salt to our festering wounds. First, they switch off power, then they make us hold on where our precious phone credit gets eaten up! Then, their answering minions sound like recorded messages (unfeeling). Oh, btw, this number is in Nairobi.

So, the person there will then contact somebody (hopefully, one who believes in being quick), all the way in Mombasa or wherever the complaint is coming from and activate the slumbering emergency team here.

If this disgusting and inefficient, unaccountable and unethical company is going to continue with their supposed work of supplying us with power, they could at least be 'kind' enough to supply the public with a toll-free emergency number so that when we are told to hold on by their recording, we will not mind so much.

And we got our power back after half an hour. Why it had and continues to misbehave, we still do not know. It is really a mystery which is playing havoc with our electrical equipment!

Muhammad: The Light for the Dark Ages of Europe!

My task here is twofold, first to show that European science was built on the Latin translations of the works of the great Muslim pioneers and secondly that the Muslim learning from 8th-12th centuries was heavily influenced by the teachings of the Holy Quran, the literal word of God revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace be on him.

Cave of Hira where the Prophet Muhammad had his first revelation!

Written and collected by Zia H Shah MD

Abstract
An honest study of the causes of the Dark Ages and European renaissance will lead to the inevitable conclusion that Muhammad, may peace be on him, was the light for the Dark Ages. John Davenport writes in, an apology for Mohammed and the Koran: "It is in the compositions of Friar Bacon, who was born in 1214, and who learned the Oriental languages, that we discover the most extensive acquaintance with the Arabian authors. He quotes Albumazar, Thabet-Ebu-Corah, Ali Alhacer, Alkandi, Alfraganus and Arzakeb; and seems to have been as familiar with them as with the Greek and Latin classics, especially with Avicenna, whom he calls 'the chief and prince of philosophy.' The great Lord Bacon, it is well known, imbibed and borrowed the first principles of his famous experimental philosophy from his predecessor and namesake Roger Bacon, a fact which indisputably establishes the derivation of the Baconian philosophical system from the descendants of Ishmael and disciples of Mohammed." In a short paragraph, John Davenport has very precisely identified all the links in the human intellectual evolution. Additionally, his book, which is available in Google books, is a master piece in the defense of the Prophet Muhammad, may peace be on him. Read his two page Preface and he is standing shoulder to shoulder with other great defenders of the Prophet Muhammad in the Western world, like Thomas Carlyle. Unfortunately, some Western scientists and historians propose the European science to be some sort of magical wand and what preceded it as not good enough or label it as pre-science or mystical science etc.!
My task here is twofold, first to show that European science was built on the Latin translations of the works of the great Muslim pioneers and secondly that the Muslim learning from 8th-12th centuries was heavily influenced by the teachings of the Holy Quran, the literal word of God, revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace be on him.
————————————————————————————————————————————–-

"If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and outstanding results are the three criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad?"  Alphonse de Lamartine, Foreign Minister of France, 1848

Allow me to make the lion's share of my case by quoting a classic book History of the Moorish Empire in Europepublished in 1904 in three volumes and extending over more than 2000 pages.  The insightful writer, Samuel Parsons Scott, a lawyer from Hillsboro Ohio  writes, as he attributes all the success of Europe to the Prophet Muhammad:
Unlike most theological systems to which men, in all ages, have rendered their obedient and pious homage, no mystery obscures the origin and foundation of Islam. The purity and simplicity of its principles have undergone no change. Its history has been preserved by the diligence of innumerable writers. The life and characteristics of its Prophet, even to the smallest detail, are accessible to the curiosity of every enterprising scholar.
The austere character of a faith which, at its inception, exacts a rigid compliance with the minutest formalities of its ritual, naturally becomes relaxed and modified after that system has attained to worldly importance and imperial authority; or, in the language of one of the greatest of modern writers, 'a dominant religion is never ascetic.' It is strange that Islam, which, in this respect, as in many others, has conformed to the general law of humanity, and now acknowledges tenets and allows practices that would have struck the subjects of Abu-Bekr and Omar with amazement, has been able to preserve in such perfection the observance of its ceremonial; especially when it had no organized sacerdotal power to sustain it. The absence of an ecclesiastical order which could dictate the policy of the throne, and humble the pride of the ermine and purple with the dust in the presence of some audacious zealot, also left untrammelled the way for scientific investigation and research, and, more than all else, contributed to dispel the darkness of mediaeval times. The doctrine of toleration enunciated by Mohammed gave no encouragement to that system of repression whose activity has exhausted every means of checking the growth of philosophical knowledge, by imposing the most direful spiritual and temporal penalties upon every teacher who ventures to publicly explain its principles; and it is a matter of far deeper import to the civilization of the twentieth century, than is implied by the mere performance of an act of devotion, when the Temple of Mecca—the seat of a time-honored faith, from whose shrine emanated the spirit of learning that redeemed degraded Europe—is saluted five times every day by the reverent homage of concentric circles of believers, one hundred and fifty million in number, from Tangier to Pekin, from the borders of Siberia to the Equinoctial Line.
We may well consider with admiration the rapid progress and enduring effects of this extraordinary religion which everywhere brought order, wealth, and happiness in its train; which, in destroying the deities of the Kaaba, swept away the traditions of thirty centuries; which adopted those pagan rites that it could not abolish; which seized and retained the birthplace of Christianity; which dispersed over so wide a territory alike the theocracy of the Jews and the ritual of Rome; which drove the Magi from the blazing altars of Persia; which usurped the throne and sceptre of the Byzantine Church; which supplanted the fetichism of the African desert; which trampled upon the mysteries of Isis, Osiris, and Horus, and revealed to the wondering Egyptians the secret of the Most High God; which invaded the Councils of Catholicism, and suggested a fundamental article of its belief; which fashioned the graceful arches of our most famous cathedrals; which placed its seal upon the earth in the measurement of a degree, and inscribed its characters in living light amidst the glittering constellations of the heavens; which has left its traces in the most familiar terms of the languages of Europe; which affords daily proof of its beneficent offices in the garments that we wear, in the books that we read, in the grains of our harvests, in the fruits of our orchards, in the flowers of our gardens; and which gave rise to successive dynasties of sovereigns, whose supreme ambition seemed to be to exalt the character of their subjects, to transmit unimpaired to posterity the inestimable treasures of knowledge, and to extend and perpetuate the intellectual empire of man. These signal and unparallelled results were effected by the inflexible constancy, the lofty genius, the political sagacity, of an Arabian shepherd, deficient in the very rudiments of learning, reared among a barbarous people divided into tribes whose mutual hostility had been intensified by centuries of warfare, who had no organized system of government, who considered the mechanical and mercantile arts degrading, who recognized no law but that of force, and knew no gods but a herd of grotesque and monstrous idols. Robbery was their profession, murder their pastime. Except within the precincts of their camp, no friend, unless connected by the sacred ties of blood, was secure. They devoured the flesh of enemies slain in battle. Deceit always excepted, cruelty was their most prominent national characteristic. Their offensive arrogance, relentless enmity, and obstinate tenacity of purpose were, in a direct ratio to their ignorance and their brutalizing superstition, confirmed by the prodigies, the omens, and the legends of ages.
To undertake the radical amelioration of such political and social conditions was a task of appalling, of apparently insuperable difficulty. Its fortunate accomplishment may not indicate the active interposition of Divine authority. The glories which invest the history of Islam may be entirely derived from the valor, the virtue, the intelligence, the genius, of man. If this be conceded, the largest measure of credit is due to him who conceived its plan, promoted its impulse, and formulated the rules which insured its success. In any event, if the object of religion be the inculcation of morals, the diminution of evil, the promotion of human happiness, the expansion of the human intellect; if the performance of good works will avail in that great day when mankind shall be summoned to its final reckoning, it is neither irreverent nor unreasonable to admit that Mohammed was indeed an Apostle of God.

Mark Graham is the Edgar award-winning author of 'Black Maria,' third in a series of historical novels which have been translated into several languages. He studied medieval history and religious studies at Connecticut College and has a master's degree in English literature from Kutztown University. He writes:
This is how the tale is still often told in the West, from grade school through college. The rise of Islam is mentioned just long enough to explain why there are so many Muslims in the world. After that Islam fades from the historical record until the Franks encounter the 'Saracens' in the l090s. The success of the First Crusade is recounted with pride, while later failures are quickly glossed over. With the Renaissance wrapping up the account, one might safely conclude that the Europeans could do what the Muslims could not: turn Greek wisdom into something useful.
This is the story of the Middle Ages, the one that every school kid learns. It is the story of how the glory of Greece and the grandeur of Rome were lost for a time but found again-how Europe wandered in the wilderness for forty years (actually more like six or seven hundred) but eventually redeemed itself by throwing out the superstitious worldview of the Catholic Church and embracing the humanistic ideals of the Greek philosophers. What may come as a surprise to the millions of people of all generations who have been forced to learn this version of events is that it is sheer myth.
After all, what could be more mythological than the idea of a hero (Europe), the son of Gods (Greece and Rome), discovering its birthright (civilization and power), after going through a quest (the Crusades) and fighting various monsters (Muslims) who have been hoarding the treasure (philosophy, science, mathematics) for ages? Read it in Ovid, the Nibelungenlied, or J. R. R. Tolkien. But if you really want your heroic fantasy straight up, all you have to do is read a social studies textbook.
Looking through the pages of a standard high school text on Western civilization (or world cultures or whatever other euphemism), you will be hard pressed to find mention of any Muslim other than Muhammad. Perhaps you will come across the names of Saladin or Suleiman the Magnificent, brilliant rulers who, it is begrudgingly admitted, actually defeated the West from time to time. But after that.. .nothing. No mention of scientists, writers, artists, philosophers-in short, no reference to anyone or anything that would lead you to believe that the Islamic world ever had any culture worth speaking about.
Truth, unlike myth, is frequently what we do not want to hear. And perhaps the most heretical thing to say is that Europe ever had anything to learn from Islam. But learn it did, sitting at the foot of its Muslim teachers for half a millennium. Far from being incubators or preservers, Muslims were all the things those textbooks deny them being: artists, poets, philosophers, mathematicians, chemists, astronomers, physicists. In short, they were civilized at a time when Europe was wallowing in barbarism. Muslim civilization was the greatest in size and technology that the world had ever seen. And far from existing in a vacuum, it directly impinged on the creation of Europe as a cultural entity and as a scientific and political power. As much as some are loathe to admit it, the Islamic world is the giant on whose shoulders the European Renaissance stood.
