Re: Power Outage on 2 phases from Yesterday!!

Just as I sent off the earlier note, I got the following email of relief and gratitude from my neighbour.

My question is - it's strange how this problem took so long to solve
and was done in a way where the
recipient of this largesse from KP(LC), does not even know whom to
thank for restoration of his power, albeit after 3 DAYS!!!

Very strange, indeed, and would love to know why, how and what caused this power failure.

We hope and pray that this is the last of their KP(LC) underhand behaviour.

Another request to them - PLEASE, don't tell us to have patience when the power goes off and we ask WHEN it will be back! We no longer have this patience since every service provider asks us to do the same and we've run out of it!

Re: Power Outage on 2 phases from Yesterday!!

'Evening!

A few days ago, I'd written an email regarding these continued, persistent, unexplained outages and reached a very unsavoury conclusion - that corruption which our country is seriously infected with has something to do with our frustrating outages.

Considering most of the people who have power in Nyali are well heeled individuals it wouldn't be surprising that somebody somewhere is being fleeced and in the process Nyali residents are suffering from these constant outages.

There is also no apology or explanation from our Power Company which makes us very suspicious....

If, the recipients of the following emails, will read them through properly, the person complaining has been without power for at least 3 DAYS!!!!

Are we living in the 21st Century?

An Amazing Quranic Prophecy: When People are Brought Together, as if They are a Close Family!
Epigraph: "And when the she-camels, ten month pregnant, are abandoned, and when the beasts are gathered together (in Zoos), and when the seas are made to flow forth one into the other, and when people are brought together, as if they are a close family! ... And when publications are spread abroad." (Al Quran 81:5-11)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When people are brought together, as if they are a close family! (Al Quran 81:8)

One of the largest gathering of mankind is the annual Hajj, which this year gathered 3.5 to 4 million Muslims from different countries.  But, when we look at the cumulative human interaction on our planet these numbers only seem to be scratching the surface.  The Quranic prophecy of closeness of humanity and constant mutual interaction, in the Latter Days, as if they are a close family, is becoming increasingly true.  The word used for this expression in the Holy Quran is the same as for a marriage, implying a very close and constant interaction.  We first saw modern means of transportation like trains and aero planes and now there has been an exponential growth of websites, discussion forums and e-mail communications.
The global internet traffic increased from approximately 1 Petabytes (1000 Terabytes) in 2002 to 50,000 Petabytes in 2011 and continues to grow with a geometric scale.

Not to speak of 15 centuries ago, who would have thought even a century ago, when a majority of the British, would have met the present day definition of racist that in the first part of the 21st century the American and the British universities would be competing for Indian and Chinese students?  Colonialism was at its peak just before the WWII and it was said that sun never sets on the British Empire.  It was in this context that the celebrated WWII Prime Minister of UK, Sir Winston Churchill remarked, in a moment of arrogance, about Mahatama Gandhi, who was a popular Indian political leader, "Gandhi should be bound hand and foot at the gates of Delhi and trampled on by an enormous elephant ridden by the Viceroy."  It is also said that Churchill further added, "I hate Indians. They are a beastly people with a beastly religion."

I was inspired to write this short article by reading of Chinese students in USA and Indian students in UK.  CNN had the following to report on November 26th:

The U.S.-based institute's most recent figures reveal that mainland Chinese students increased 23% to more than 723,000 in the 2010-11 academic year.
While Chinese students traditionally went abroad when they failed to secure a place at a top-tier local university, the best students are now forgoing elite Chinese universities to study in the United States, according to Lin, now academic director of Ivy Labs Education, an admissions consultancy in Beijing.

List of Western Films about the Prophet Muhammad

Here, we present a list of films about the Islamic prophet, Muhammad from Wikipedia.  Muhammad is the messenger of the monotheistic Abrahamic faithIslam. Like JesusMoses and others before him he is regarded as an integral part of the history of Islam by Muslims worldwide. Numerous films and documentaries have been made about Muhammad. Films produced in the Middle East are not listed here as there are very few depictions of Muhammad in the Arab states owing to certain customs.
Two new modernized films are currently being produced, considered the "second of their kind" (referring to western films respecting the portrayal of Muhammad).[1] According to some sources it will be an adaptation of the original 1976 film The Message in which Anthony Quinn starred as Muhammad's uncle Hamza ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib.[1][2][3][4] Film producer Barrie M. Osborne is attached to produce a new movie about Muhammad. The film is financed by a Qatari media company and will be supervised by Yusuf al-Qaradawi.[5]

Montgomery Watt

"The more one reflects on the history of Muhammad and of early Islam, the more one is amazed at the vastness of his achievements…study of his life may contribute to a fresh appraisal and appreciation of one of the greatest of the sons of Adam." [Muhammad at Madinah]

[Mombasa Traffic Expose] Safety Alert!

PLEASE, everybody this is not a mild matter. Abide by the rules and this habit that people have of talking on phones while driving is not just dangerous to others, but, to the person him/herself, too.

I've personally had the misfortune to be behind drivers who insist on talking on phones while driving and it's HIGHLY IRRITATING!

Unbeknownst to them (since their attention is elsewhere...), they are veering all over the road with total disregard of other road users. Add to this the fact that most cars these days have tinted glass, so, catching (even when our cops are alert which they are not most times), these selfish people is not easy.

Then, there are the pedestrians who are talking on phones while walking with the same kind of behaviour. They step into roads without looking.

So, take care and be safe. Obey the rules!

Safety Alert! Here are some reasons why we...
Reishi Arun Parikh 9:10am Nov 26
Safety Alert!
Here are some reasons why we don't allow cell phones in operating areas, propylene oxide handling and storage area, propane, gas and diesel refueling areas.

The Shell Oil Company recently issued a warning after three incidents in which mobile phones (cell phones) ignited fumes during fueling operations

In the first case, the phone was placed on the car's trunk lid during fueling; it rang and the ensuing fire destroyed the car and the gasoline pump.

In the second, an individual suffered severe burns to their face when fumes ignited as they answered a call while refueling their car!

And in the third, an individual suffered burns to the thigh and groin as fumes ignited when the phone, which was in their pocket, rang while they were fueling their car.

You should know that: Mobile Phones can ignite fuel or fumes

Mobile phones that light up when switched on or when they ring release enough energy to provide a spark for ignition

Mobile phones should not be used in filling stations, or when fueling lawn mowers, boat, etc.

Mobile phones should not be used, or should be turned off, around other materials that generate flammable or explosive fumes or dust, (I.e., solvents, chemicals, gases, grain dust, etc...)

TO sum it up, here are the Four Rules for Safe Refueling:

1) Turn off engine
2) Don't smoke
3) Don't use your cell phone - leave it inside the vehicle or turn it off
4) Don't re-enter your vehicle during fueling.

Bob Renkes of Petroleum Equipment Institute is working on a campaign to try and make people aware of fires as a result of 'static electricity' at gas pumps. His company has researched 150 cases of these fires.

His results were very surprising:

1) Out of 150 cases, almost all of them were women.

2) Almost all cases involved the person getting back in their vehicle while the nozzle was still pumping gas. When finished, they went back to pull the nozzle out and the fire started, as a result of static.

3) Most had on rubber-soled shoes.

4) Most men never get back in their vehicle until completely finished. This is why they are seldom involved in these types of fires.

5) Don't ever use cell phones when pumping gas

6) It is the vapors that come out of the gas that cause the fire, when connected with static charges.

7) There were 29 fires where the vehicle was re-entered and the nozzle was touched during refueling from a variety of makes and models. Some resulted in extensive damage to the vehicle, to the station, and to the customer.

8) Seventeen fires occurred before, during or immediately after the gas cap was removed and before fueling began.

Mr. Renkes stresses to NEVER get back into your vehicle while filling it with gas.
If you absolutely HAVE to get in your vehicle while the gas is pumping, make sure you get out, close the door TOUCHING THE METAL, before you ever pull the nozzle out. This way the static from your body will be discharged before you ever remove the nozzle.

As I mentioned earlier, The Petroleum Equipment Institute, along with several other companies now, are really trying to make the public aware of this danger.

I ask you to please send this information to ALL your family and friends, especially those who have kids in the car with them while pumping gas. If this were to happen to them, they may not be able to get the children out in time.
